The old rebate was outdated
For years there was a partial GST rebate on homes up to about $450,000. After two decades of rising prices, that ceiling doesn’t do much anymore — most homes blew past it.
What’s changing
The newer direction raises the threshold dramatically — a rebate on homes up to roughly $1 million, with partial relief even above that. Crucially, Josh flags that these are two different things: the rebate that exists today versus the one being talked about.
